Comparing the experiences of alternative career path ETL teachers and traditional career path ETL teachers in Austria

The teacher shortage in Austria has led to various government measures, such as the “Quereinstieg” program. This initiative brings people from non-educational career backgrounds into teaching with very little training. These alternative career path (ACP) teachers remain a largely under-researched population. The aim of this study is to investigate how both alternative and traditional career path teachers in Austria describe their experiences during their first year of practice, and in what ways these experiences appear similar or different.
